Local Skin Care: Narayan Sacred Healing Beauty
February 23, 2009
Much as I love sumptuous high-end, imported skin care lines like Decleor and Eminence Organics, I say it’s time skin care followed the example of produce and fashion: buy local. With that in mind, I present the first of a series on locally made skin care products that use only whole, recognizable ingredients and none of that nasty stuff like parabens and sulfates.
I’d like to begin with a close, personal favorite, Narayan Sacred Healing Beauty. Handcrafted in small batches by my friend Kristi Marie Jones (who goes by the spiritual name Narayan), this line of bath soaks, body butter blends and facial serums uses healing ingredients like shea butter, jojoba oil, aloe, and all sorts of soul-nurturing essential oils. Kristi even infuses each product with a mantra. My favorite is the Shea Butter, which is meant to be used primarily on the feet and body, but I slather it all over my face morning and night, and my dry skin drinks it right up. The Narayan line can be purchased at the Amrit Davaa Wellness Center inside Golden Bridge Yoga (where Kristi Ann offers her reflexology and facial services – she’s amazing). It can also be purchased online at Narayan Beauty.
And if you want to experience one of Kristi’s incredible treatments for yourself, she’s currently offering a great deal at Amrit Davaa: Book a 90-minute Faceology treatment (read Chill Out LA’s review here) and receive a complimentary Naryan Super Natural Serum ($50 value).
